The FLTCZ is an armoured loose tube fiber optic cable that consists of a central strength member made of steel and 6 loose tubes filled with water-blocking gel. To protect the optical fibers from water penetration, the cable includes water-blocking tape, corrugated steel tape armour, and an LSZH outer jacket. The corrugated steel tape also functions as armour, providing the cable with added mechanical and rodent protection. Additionally, the flame-retardant Low Smoke Zero Halogen outer jacket (LSZH) gives the cable flame-retardant capabilities in the event of a fire.
